Eden Mill

With the renaissance of whisky making in Fife now in full swing, we're delighted that the Kingdom's own Eden Mill will be returning to the Corn Exchange in Cupar, for the third year running, to join us for 2020's Fife Whisky Festival.

Eden Mill Fife Whisky Festival

As well as celebrating the talents of so many whisky makers from all over Scotland, and further afield, a Fife Whisky Festival wouldn't be quite right without our local distilleries showcasing their whisky wares!

Although whisky making has only returned to Guardbridge fairly recently, the place itself has quite the whisky making heritage. Converted to a paper mill in 1872, it was previously known as Seggie Distillery, founded in 1810 by none other than William Haig of the illustrious Haig whisky dynasty. The distillery continued until 1860 when it was transformed into the Guard Bridge Paper Mill.

In 2012, the site reopened as Eden Mill Brewery and distilling returned to Guardbridge two years afterwards. Using smaller size casks for maturation, and employing an innovative wood policy, Eden Mill’s whisky came of legal age in 2018 with the release of the distillery's own single malt whisky in April 2018.

The release of the Hip Flask Series proved incredibly popular at 2019's Fife Whisky Festival.  Bottled in 20cl bottles, this range of single cask expressions highlights the different mashbills, the different processes and the different maturation techniques including the use of different casks which can all take place when producing small batch whisky.

Eden Mill is currently in the process of a £4 million expansion project to build its brand new distillery at the Guardbridge site. This will allow the team to increase their production of whisky (as well as gin and beer) in addition to offering a more in depth visitor experience.
